Doctors have been using Botox for years to successfully treat wrinkles and facial creases. Botox is a brand name of a neuromodulator produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. There are also other brand names such as Dysport, Juveau, and Xeomin.

How Does A Neuromodulator Work?

A neuromodulator is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye), and frown lines (the 11's).

How Is This Procedure Done?

Getting a neuromodulator only takes a few minutes and doesn't require anesthesia. It is injected with a tiny needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. It generally takes 7 to 14 days to take full effect.

How Long Does a Neuromodulator Injection Last?

The effects from will last approximately 3 months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time.

What Are the Side Effects of a Neuromodulator?

Temporary bruising is the most common side effect. Headaches, which end in 24 to 48 hours, can happen but this is rare. A small percentage of patients may develop eyelid drooping. This will gradually wear off. Drooping usually happens when the neuromodulator moves around, so don't rub the treated area for 12 hours after injection or lie down for three to four hours.

Who Should Not Receive Neuromodulators?

People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological disease should not receive neuromodulators. Since this treatment doesn't work for all wrinkles you should consult with one of our injectors first.
